Who is this qualification for?
Level 2 plant operation at those who are involved with the use and guidance of plant equipment and machinery in a construction environment.
The qualification has 2 mandatory units with pathways developed to recognise competence and knowledge in the use of specific equipment and machinery in the following groups: Cranes and Specialist Lifting Plant, Fork-lift Trucks, Extracting Plant, Transporting Loads Plant, Accessing Plant, Compacting Plant, Movement Guidance and Processing Plant.
You must complete all work following Industry recognised Safe Working Practices and in accordance with relevant legislation
The awarding body sets this qualification at Level 2, although some units may be at different levels, and intends it for those who are fully trained to deal with a range of tasks and situations. Candidates should require minimum supervision in carrying out the required work.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for learners undertaking this qualification, however individuals must be carrying out a role that will enable them to show they have the required competence and knowledge to meet the qualification aims.
Qualification achievement
The qualification designers created it with flexibility to allow the widest possible uptake, since they don’t expect all workers to complete the same tasks.
Individuals must complete the 2 mandatory units and the required units from the selected Pathway(s)
The TQT for this qualification is 160 hours.
Qualifications must indicate the number of teaching hours someone would normally need to receive in order to achieve the qualification.
which people refer to as Guided Learning Hours (GLH) The minimum GLH for this qualification is 29.
The unit of assessment sets out learning outcomes which describe what learners need to be able to do and understand. Assessment criteria define the learning outcomes and assess the competence—achieved skills and learned knowledge—required to complete the units. GQA Qualifications will issue a certificate complete with the learner’s name, the qualification and unit title and the credits achieved.
