Who is this qualification for?
A Level 4 Site supervisor must organise and supervise construction site work. This includes planning and controlling work methods, allocating equipment, personnel, and materials, ensuring the work meets the required standard, and maintaining clear, effective communication. The qualification is at Level 4, but some units might be at different levels.
Level 4 qualifications target fully trained and experienced professionals across many roles. These professionals actively make decisions, understand potential site problems, and deal with them effectively. Candidates must also demonstrate knowledge of legislation, lead teams successfully, and maintain and improve work standards.
The wide range of tasks that occur on construction sites means that supervisory personnel won’t all do the same activities. To address this, the qualification structure provides a high degree of flexibility within the available units. It includes six pathways, which cover a range of construction activities categorized under the following broad headings.
- Building and Civil Engineering.
- Highways Maintenance.
- Residential Development.
- Traditional and Heritage Building.
- Tunnelling and Retrofit.

Types of evidence:
he qualification requires performance and knowledge evidence. Performance evidence needs demonstration through activities and outcomes, and must originate only in the workplace, unless potential sources of evidence indicate exceptions. Candidates can demonstrate knowledge evidence through performance or by responding to questions.
